I just got this notice from an insurance company:

We regret that due to an error made in the printing of a postcard intended to remind you of the availability of our HIPPA Privacy notice, you received a postcard with the name of another insured as the addressee. Your name appeared on another recipient's postcard

So they violated my privacy rights by sending out a notice about privacy rights.

The only thing that bothers me is that in all my years as a technical writer, I never got to draft a sentence as wonderfully absurd as the one above.

My virus checker keeps telling me I'm not fully protected, and when I look at the status it's fussing because I haven't set parental controls.

I'm the only person who uses this computer and I write (and read) vampire porn. Is there any way to explain to McAfee that it's asking me to cramp my own style?

While I'm complaining, I hate it when Windows announces it's checking to find out why a program crashed, then announces that it can't help because it wasn't a Microsoft program. It's smug insinuation is that if only I had the sense to use only MS problems, Vista would be happy to solve all my problems. In all the time I've had this OS, it's only solved one, and that was to tell me that the MS-supplied color scheme was slowing down the PC by using too much memory. Because there's nothing incompetent about creating a color scheme that hogs so much memory a PC won't run.
